Ethanol From Corn

Kentucky 5 Star Energy of Nebo, Kentucky, is developing a new plant in northwest Kentucky designed to produce ethanol from corn.  This plant that will be located in the heart of our corn-producing region near Sebree.

Kentucky 5 Star Energy will employ about 100 to 150 people.

Kentucky 5 Star Energy will produce 50,000,000 gallons of ethanol using 20,000,000 bushels of corn from Western Kentucky farms each year.  The facility has the option of doubling in size and output within two years.

Ethanol is an alcohol made from corn (or other grains) that has been converted into simple sugars and then fermented and distilled.

Ethanol is a renewable, biodegradable fuel that can be added to gasoline providing consumers with a high-octane fuel at a competitive price.

Because ethanol is a renewable fuel produced from corn, increased ethanol usage will boost Kentucky farm income while, at the same time, reducing U.S. reliance on imported oil and reducing harmful vehicle emissions.  By supporting ethanol production and use, U.S. drivers can help reverse that trend and reduce pollution.
