The dry grind ethanol production process uses only the starch portion of the
corn, which is about 70% of the kernel. All the remaining nutrients –
protein, fat, minerals, and vitamins – are concentrated into distillers
grain, a valuable feed for livestock.
This occurs after the corn is
ground, fermented and distilled; a by-product or co-product called
distillers grain is created.
The growth of the dry
grind ethanol industry has resulted in a larger and continued supply of
Distillers Grains. The by-product of this facility will result in
Distillers Dry Grain (DDG).
DDG is a high quality
and nutritious feedstock high in protein, fat, minerals, and vitamins.
